The first Greek play I contributed to

 'Medea'

This play was the first Greek play I contributed to. We were able to win first place in the youth drama category at the RAJAINS THEATRE  FESTIVAL'17 as well as the all island achievements. The reason I especially remember this story is that ,the mother in the story kills her own two children to revenge the father. the story was tragic, but throughout the story there was a lot to bring to life .

 

This play written by Euripides, based upon the myth of Jason and Medea and first produced in 431 BC. Medea , in Greek mythology, an enchantress who helped Jason, leader of the Argonauts, to obtain the Golden Fleece from her father, King Aeetes of Colchis. She was of divine descent and had the gift of prophecy. She married Jason and used her magic powers and advice to help him but finally she finds her position in the Greek world threatened us Jason leaves her for Greek princes of Corinth. Medea takes vengeance on Jason by murdering his new wife as well her own two children. After which she escapes to Athens to start a new life. This is the plot of Medea play. The Greek historian Herodotus related that from Athens Medea went to the region of Asia subsequently called Medea, whose inhabitants thereupon changed their name of Medea.

In Euripides version,
'Medea Emerges murdered 
but as a suffering 
mother, maligned by an 
unfaithful rogue of a 
husband '.
